Day 1: Fly to Arba Minch & Visit Dorze Village

  • If it is Sunday, Wednesday, or Friday, transfer to Addis Ababa airport for your flight to Arba Minch
  • Upon arrival, meet your driver and guide

  • Drive to Chencha, a highland village home to the Dorze people, known for:

    • Tall beehive-shaped bamboo houses

    • Renowned weaving traditions

    • Unique false banana cultivation

  • Return to Arba Minch

    Overnight stay at a hotel in Addis Ababa.

    Day 2: Lake Chamo Boat Safari & Drive to Jinka

    • After breakfast, enjoy a boat trip on Lake Chamo

      • Spot giant Nile crocodiles (up to 7 meters), hippos, and numerous aquatic birds

    • Continue the journey by road to Jinka, the gateway to the Omo Valley tribes

    Overnight at a hotel in Jinka

    Day 3: Mursi Village Excursion & Drive to Turmi

    • Early morning excursion to Mursi village inside Mago National Park

      • Meet the Mursi tribe, famous for lip plates worn by women and traditional scarification by men

    • Return to Jinka for lunch

    • Drive to Turmi, with a stop to explore local tribal markets if the day aligns (Hamar or Benna markets)

    Day 4: Excursion to Omorate & Hamar Cultural Visit

    • Morning excursion to Omorate, near the Ethiopia–Kenya border

      • Cross the Omo River by local wooden boat to visit the Dassanech tribe, agropastoralists with rich cultural heritage

    • Return to Turmi for lunch

    • Afternoon visit to a Hamar village

      • Discover their ornamental hairstyles, beaded jewelry, and cultural rituals

      • If lucky, witness a traditional ceremony, such as a bull-jumping rite of passage

    Day 5: Drive Back to Arba Minch via Konso

    • After breakfast, drive back to Arba Minch

    • En route, stop in Konso, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, known for:

      • Terraced agriculture

      • Stone-walled villages

      • Waka totems and ritual traditions

      • Continue to Arba Minch

    Overnight at a hotel in Arba Minch.

    Day 6: Return to Addis Ababa & Departure

    • Depart Arba Minch and drive back to Addis Ababa

    • On the way, visit:

      • Tiya, an archaeological site with ancient stelae

      • Melka Kunture, a significant prehistoric tool and fossil site

      • Arrive in Addis Ababa in the late afternoon

      • Enjoy a farewell cultural dinner at a traditional restaurant

    • Transfer to the airport for your international departure.
